     27/11/2016 - 10/12/2016
     9:30 am - 8:00 am

TELG has been taking high school students (and the occasional teacher) to China since 2010, and 2016 will be no different.  China is a country full of unique and unforgettable experiences.  Not only will our travellers see two of the wonders of the world (Great Wall and Terracotta Army), but you’ll learn more about engineering, live amongst, meet and work with Chinese students at a Chinese university and have a great deal of fun!

The engineering course is a five day “Civil Engineering” workshop, where you’ll work in small groups to plan for and align a new rail link between two existing lines.  You’ll be preparing a submission to the Asia Development Bank outlining the facilities, costs, route and other important information.

You’ll receive expert tuition from lecturers at East China Jiaotong University (in English) and support from us.  Everything you need to know will be taught to you, and we can guarantee that you’ll learn things that no high school student in Australia (and perhaps the world) will learn.

Is it challenging?  Yes, but there is plenty of support to help you.

Do I have to know anything about Civil Engineering?  No, you’ll be taught everything you need to know.  An interest in engineering in general (civil, mechanical, structural, etc) will be assumed, as will a basic Year 11 level of Mathematics (trigonometry and algebra mainly).

Is it fun? Yes it is.  All learning is fun and this even more so!  And we have an excellent social calendar planned for you after hours, with the first and second year Chinese university students – they can’t wait to meet you.
