Forging links between schools and industry

We run programs each year throughout Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. They have been developed by teachers in partnership with professional engineers and have been awarded the Peter Doherty Award for Excellence in Science and Science Education three years in a row.

Engineering Link Project

A one-day immersion course for year 10, 11, and 12 students considering engineering as a career, hosted by a local university and facilitated by professional engineers, undergraduate engineers, and TELG staff.

STEM-Sell

A one-day, team-based competition for Year 8 and 9 students, which teaches teamwork and problem-solving through a civil engineering activity.

The Bridge Competition

A problem-solving engineering challenge for students from Grades 5 to 12.  Teams have two months to plan, design, and build a bridge from store-bought spaghetti and glue.  They come together at a venue to test their bridge’s strength on a custom-made rig.  The bridge that withstands the most downward force is declared the winner. This competition is conducted in Queensland and New South Wales.
