Travel day today. We said goodbye to our excellent guide, Mei and our very comfortable and convenient hotel, the Traders, and set off for the Bejing South Train station. Ahead of us was a 5 and a half hour trip to Shanghai (roughly the equivalent of a trip from Townsville to Brisbane) on a super-fast train.
After the usual struggle to get onto the train in the first place (orderly lines are not anywhere to be found), and with Matt losing yet another souvenir at the bag scanning (he took it rather well this time), we boarded our train, stowed our luggage and settled in for the ride.
Not a lot to report, but we did miss out on seeing the 164 long kilometer bridge that Professor Lei (at ECJTU) told us about – how do you miss something that long? Well, it was dark!
We arrived at the airport and met up with Coco, our Shanghai guide. Fighting the typical Shanghai traffic, we arrived at the hotel and went for another yummy dinner before the students went to explore Nanjing Road (those who could stay awake).
Tomorrow we explore Shanghai and have our final full day in China.
