2025 QUT Intro to Engineering – Year 9 and 10

We are proud to continue to be associated with QUT, Engineers Australia, and the Queensland Government and are excited to present the 2025 QUT Introduction to Engineering. This is a one-day event for Year 9 and 10 students interested in discovering what engineering is all about!

Students will participate in two hands-on workshops in different engineering disciplines. Each workshop is designed to challenge creativity and knowledge of maths and science and introduce middle years students to the engineering paradigm.

An engineer will outline their career and what a day in the life of an engineer is really like, then present a problem or scenario that you will have to work through as a team. You will test materials, complete design calculations, and submit a proposal like a real engineer. If your proposal is approved, you construct your solution. The engineer will evaluate each solution against any criteria and declare the winning team.

Students will be given the opportunity to choose their preferred module experiences during registration. While we make every attempt to fit each student to their preferences, we need to balance the numbers across all activities. A very brief description of each workshop is available in the registration process.

Lunch is provided for all attendees.

Students will also experience working with QUT Engineering students and getting a feel for university life.  This is worth the price of admission on its own.

Registration is from 8 am on Saturday 22nd March at The Cube, P-block, QUT Gardens Point Campus. The event starts at 8.30 am and concludes at 4 pm.
