Hands on STEM with Real Engineers for Year 11 & 12 Students
Year 11 and 12 students are invited to discover what the “E” in STEM is really all about. In partnership with the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Engineers Australia (Qld Division) and three of the major universities in Queensland – QUT, JCU and CQUniversity, The Engineering Link Group presents the Engineering Link Project.
An Engineering Link Project follows the design-make-evaluate process of problem solving. In small groups, students will work with professional engineers to solve a problem in two different, day long projects. Participants will test materials, consider their options, complete calculations and present their solutions to the engineer. Each group’s solution will tested to ensure it meets the criteria.
Students can choose from a variety of disciplines, including civil, mechanical, aeronautical, electrical, and robotics engineering.
There are four projects for students to choose from:
- Central Queensland @ CQUniversity, Rockhampton – June 26 & 27
- South Queensland @ QUT, Brisbane – July 6 & 7
- North Queensland @ JCU, Townsville – July 17 & 18
- Far North Queensland @ JCU, Cairns – July 20 & 21
Students can register at our website – http://www.telg.com.au/register. This page also contains flyers for each Project.
Transport and Main Roads are offering two paid positions at any of the courses for girls who might not normally be able to attend – please contact us for an application form.
