Mackay Chemical Process Engineering Challenge
STUDENT EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
The 2015 QUT Chemical Process Engineering Challenge will provide Year 11 and 12 students with the opportunity to collaborate with industry and University mentors to solve industry-designed challenges related to chemical process engineering.
Expressions of interest are sought from students studying Year 11 and 12 in schools in the Mackay, Whitsunday and Central Highlands regions and Brisbane who wish to be considered for this activity.
PLEASE NOTE: Students travelling from outside Mackay will be responsible for organising and paying for their own travel to Mackay.
This student challenge will give Year 11 and 12 students looking to pursue a career in process engineering an opportunity to work on a project set by industry. They will also be given opportunities to network with industry professionals to gain knowledge and some insight about their chosen career pathway.
The challenge will be held in Mackay from 21-26 June 2015, – and comprise of site tours of the QUT Mackay Biocommodities Pilot Plant, Sarina Sugar Shed, induction programs, the opportunity to design and undertake experiments relating to the research being conducted in the pilot plant and networking with industry.
As this will be a residential challenge, the students will also experience what it is like to work and study away from their home environment.
Students are responsible for making their own way to Mackay for the challenge, and for any personal expenses during the duration of the activity. All other costs associated with the experience (accommodation, meals, social activities and travel in Mackay) will be covered by the organisers.
Applications must be received no later than 5pm Wednesday 15 April, 2015.
QUT and QMEA reserve the right to select the most suitable candidates for the challenge.
