Online Professional Development Trial
The Department of Education, Training and Employment is developing five optional online coaching modules in conjunction with the Queensland College of Teachers, to strengthen effective pedagogical practice and teacher content knowledge in priority areas from Prep to Year 10. These modules are designed to build teacher capacity in ways that lead to improved student learning and achievement.
How to teach reading is available now on Scootle and on the Learning Place, How to teach writing and How to teach mathematics will be available on Wednesday 21 January 2015 and How to assess learning and use evidence to differentiate will be available in Semester 1, 2016. How to teach science is being piloted in Term 1, 2015, prior to full release at the beginning of Semester 2, 2015. These self-paced coaching modules are optional and free-of-charge. They provide Queensland teachers and pre-service teachers with research-validated information and advice to build teacher knowledge, skills and understanding.
